After graduating from college, I came to New York City and worked a couple of odd jobs while I got my teaching license. I taught high school English in Manhattan and the South Bronx for 14 and a half years. Then I was a guidance counselor for 15 years. During those 30+ years, I also raised a son, traveled as much as I could and dabbled in art. In retirement, I have volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and Clearwater, studied Italian, t’ai chi, watercolor, Chinese painting, pastel drawing and ceramics, have traveled to China, Ecuador, Italy, Greece and Southeast Asia, visited my son, his wife and my two grandchildren as often as I could (wherever he was stationed) and finally have had the time and energy to take advantage of the myriad cultural opportunities New York has to offer. |

After my divorce, I went to work as an Advertising Exec at The Waukesha Freeman. There, I had the creative opportunity to develop my writing and designing skills for the print media. In 1987, I married Jerry Christensen and his job with AT&T relocated us to While living in At the same time, I obtained my state license as a Hearing Aid Specialist and worked for Beltone before pursuing a college degree as an Educational Interpreter for the Hearing Impaired. I wanted to clown for deaf and hearing-impaired children. However, after three years of study, arthritis impaired my hands and my dream died. In 1996, I traded in my bow, skis and fishing pole for dance shoes. I joined The Arthur Murray Dance Studio where I worked part time as the studio's Marketing and Event Coordinator and learned Ballroom, Swing and Latin style of dance. I competed in regional dance competitions and won several awards. Dancing is in my blood, so yes, I do watch “Dancing with the Stars!” During college, volunteer work led me to the Chippewa Valley Theatre Guild where I worked on all aspects of community theatre and continued to volunteer with the In 2003, a MVA forced me into early retirement. Amber and I moved to Galesburg, IL in 1990 where I became The minister at Central Congregational Church, a wonderful historic church in the heart of town. Many of you are aware of the difficulty I experienced in Brookfield, and I learned that it was not possible at that time for me to bounce back. In 1992 I decided to leave active ministry and enter the corporate world. I became an agent for Country Companies Insurance (Farm Bureau) for the next 5 years and enjoyed it very much. Many of my clients were farmers as Galesburg is a rich agricultural area. Amber, in the meantime, taught piano and organ, and accompanied the choirs at Knox College, where our son, Rob was enrolled as a voice major. He graduated from Knox in 1995 and is a wonderful singer. Professionally, he entered the newspaper industry and is currently the regional editor for papers in Bay City, Saginaw, and Midland, MI where he and his wife, Claire are raising our 4 delightful grandsons: Owen - 9, August - 7, Asher - 5, and Ellis - 3. In 1997 I was asked by Gary Smith, President/CEO of NAEIR (National Association for the Exchange of Industrial Resources) to become their Director of Human Resources, which I did for 15 years, retiring last July, six months before my 70th birthday. You might want to Google www.naeir.org - it's a pretty neat nonprofit organization. This week Amber and I will celebrate our 49th wedding anniversary. We still live in the beautiful 1920 expanded bungalow we bought in 1990. There are photos on my Face Book. (Robert B. Clark). We are actively involved in First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where Amber is the organist and I play tenor sax and flute with their excellent praise band, "The Quest." For a number of years I have taught classes in Supervision, HR Management, and Labor Relations at Carl Sandburg College here in Galesburg, which I will continue to do this fall. I also lead a 16-piece Swing Era dance band called The Rootabaga Jammers, which I front with my clarinet, much like Benny Goodman did back in the day. It is great fun and quite a hit around these parts. The band is actually an "activity" of Carl Sandburg College and is made up of community musicians who all volunteer their talents - including me. Carl Sandburg was a native of Galesburg, and the band name is in reference to a rootabaga he mentioned in one of his poems. I find it interesting that I eventually wound up doing what my closest boyhood buddy, Jack Dresdow did professionally. It has been a rewarding career, and Galesburg has been a great place to live. Amber and I feel richly blessed by God, and we seek every day to live out the THANK YOU. Bob

What a life after High School! In the Fall of 1961 I went off to Whitewater State College. During my Senior Year I sat next to a cute guy from the Track Team in a class called Revolution and Reaction. By August 1965, we were married and have shared a life of love, laughter and challenges. While I earned a BEd at UW-Whitewater, my husband, Arlyn earned a BBA. We both continued our education at UWM. I got my MS while he got an MBA and became a CPA. Our entire working years were spent in Wisconsin. We raised our son, Crist, and daughter, Andrea, in Whitefish Bay. Crist went off to Johns Hopkins and did his graduate work at MIT. He lives in California with his wife, Rachel, and the joy of our lives, Granddaughters Josie and Cassie. Our Andi went to Georgetown and returned to UW Madison for her graduate studies. She lives in Maine, and yes, we do travel coast to coast a lot! "Retirement" has been a very rewarding time for me. Quilting has become a great avocation. I not only make quilts, I design them. Best of all I share my knowledge and skills teaching others. In 2004 my husband retired. Since then we have lived in Trempealeau, WI overlooking the Mississippi River summers, and Queen Valley, AZ in the foothills of the Superstition Mountains winters. We have enjoyed traveling all over this Great Nation by plane, Amtrak, and car. But, best of all are the Falls here in Wisconsin at Badgers and Packers Football games. We've been to two Rose Bowls and several other Bowl Games, but haven't won the Super Bowl lottery yet. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at the Reunion and the Brewers in the World Series! |

I am looking forward to connecting with old friends at the reunion. After high school, I earned BS and MS degrees and chemistry before becoming a school dropout (from a PhD program). After 30 years working in the paper industry, I was forced into retirement by the economic situation. I then taught high school for 7 years (science and math). I got roped into being an assistant track coach (distance) one year. Now fully retired, I live in New Mexico where I hike, run, garden and keep bees.

Hi , There must be some mistake. It can't be 50 years! I have been retired for 2 years, but still don't have enough hours in the day for everything I want to do. After raising four kids and helping run our dairy farm, I started a full line bakery. We produced everything from donuts to wedding cakes and 98% of our products were made from scratch. I employed 8 people and the bakery was open 5 days a week. Baker's Dozen Bakery was located in Baraboo, Wi. perhaps some of you stopped by when visiting the Dells. It was a great career, I loved every minute of it (maybe not the getting up at 2a.m. part). After 10 years of putting in 60 plus hours a week, I was totally exhausted and sold the business to a young German Baker who was working in Madison. The next ten years I was employed by the Baraboo School District as a Para Professional .Several of those years I spent working with Autistic children. In 2008 we purchased a house and 37 acres near Wausaukee, Wis. The unfinished house was only 6 years old. Since this is sand country, we replaced all the carpeting with ceramic tile. I have learned that laying tile is hard work! We added a huge bank of windows to the living room and converted the 2 car garage area into a master bedroom suite. We have ten grandchildren scattered about the country. Our youngest daughter lives about 6 miles away and teaches 1-2 grade in Wausaukee. She has three children, the youngest is 4 and he spends two days a week keeping me running. Our son lives in Waterville, Maine. He is the Inland fish and wildlife veterinarian for the state. He has three boys ages 9-16. Our oldest daughter lives in Florida and manages a 400 unit condominium, her 22 yr. old step son is our oldest grandchild . Last but not least our middle daughter lives in Kalispell,Montana. She is a stay at home Mom with three kids, working part time as a substitute teacher. My husband George is semi retired. He is an Organic Inspector for the state of Montana and several other agencies. We have a 5th Wheel RV and have spent the last 6 summers on the organic inspection circuit in the Dakotas and Montana. |

Right after high school, two years at Whitewater, followed by a two year stint in the Army. I then worked in the Milwaukee area until I married a DePere girl and moved to Florida. I finally graduated at the old age of 30 from the University of South Florida and stayed in Florida until 1998, moving to Oregon City, Oregon, where I love it. Still married to that DePere girl and have three children in three states with no grand kids. I spent my entire career in Human Resources and Labor Relations, in both the private and public sectors. My job now is the best I've ever had - called 'retirement'. During retirement, we've done some road traveling and, since moving from Florida to Oregon, I've found great enjoyment with hiking and backpacking in the Cascades. Recreation on weekdays without the working stiffs is great. Update: In 2023, we made the move to Savannah, Georgia, to be closer to our daughter (in our old age). Although we love the Northwest, we like it here too. Some of you may remember that Bob Bierce, before he passed, spent most of his life in Savannah as a Fire Battalion Chief. |

Fifty Years?? Indeed five decades of good fortune and good times ! Before graduating from Stout in '65, I married Jan, the girl of my dreams. She has been an incredible partner, mom, homemaker, grandma, and volunteer worker, contributing greatly to the whole family's joy. After getting an MBA From the U. of Minn, and 29 years with a BIG co. we "retired" to run our own commercial real estate development & management firm. Retired a 2nd time in '03 when capital gains rate went down to 15%. Was a Lions District Governor & Lions Cabinet speaker for 17 years. Now serving on the Board of Directors for Model T Ford Club International, and 3 local antique car Club Boards. Write & publish 2 old car newspapers. Jan does so much volunteer work with various organizations I don't know where to start. The six grandkids (ages 1 through 16) are a delight and a source of joy to Jan & I. All three kids and 6 grandkids live nearby. Now spending much time restoring, maintaining, and driving antique vehicles, including manufactureg. of "Made in USA" crankshafts for Model T Ford cars, and other old car parts. Still enjoy motorcycling, snowmobiling (40+years), hunting, fishing, and time at the WI lake home. We also enjoy ocean cruises and other traveling. Planning Dec. & Jan '11 trips to Vegas, Hawaii and S. Carolina. Fifty years? Yes, but 50 years of good fortune seems like a short time. And I would rather be lucky than smart any day ! |
