Occupation: Retired Health Care Administrator
Comment: After graduation, I never strayed far from the greater Milwaukee area.  I attended UW-Madison for 2 years, but found no particular major.  I decided to follow in my older sister's footsteps & attend nursing school.  I applied & was accepted @ Milwaukee County General Hospital School of Nursing.  I started there in the fall of '63 & graduated in '66.  I stayed on as a staff nurse & went on to a variety of positions including head nurse on the Cardiothoracic unit, Information Systems Nurse Coordinator, Director of Nursing Critical Care & lastly, Associate Hospital Administrator Ambulatory Care.  In the early '80s, I decided to go back to school.  I finished my bachelors degree in '84 & my masters in '86, both @ Cardinal Stritch University.  In the early '90s, efforts began to close the medical complex, which by then was called Doyne Hospital.  Over a period of years, Froedtert Hospital & the Medical College of Wisconsin took over parts & in late 1995, Milwaukee County closed the old hospital.  I took the early retirement offer, but after some consulting work, vacationing & resting, I decided this wasn't for me yet.  Long term care had never entered my mind as a career option, but I was offered & accepted the Director of Nursing position @ Franciscan Villa in South Milwaukee.  This was one of the most challenging yet rewarding times of my professional life - hated all the regulations, but loved the residents & staff.  In 2004, I retired "again" - this time for good.

My husband is a retired meat cutter.  We've lived in his childhood home in the Walker's Point area of Milwaukee for over 35 years.  In my younger days, I played on softball teams & golfed, but my knees have gotten the best of me.  We love the Packers, Badgers & Brewers.  My husband still golfs all the time & I have picked up a couple hobbies along the way - genealogy (family trees are a constant work in progress) & collecting antique fishing lures.  I know it sounds weird, but they really are little works of art.  You might find me hanging out @ auctions, yard sales or on ebay.  Last, but not least, we have a 3 y/o chocolate lab (Buck) that keeps us hopping. My husband trains him & I am the chief cheerleader as Buck runs in AKC hunt tests.  He is now a titled Junior Hunter w/hopefully more titles to come.

Can't believe its been almost 50 years!

After graduation from WHS I earned a B.S. and M.S. I taught and was a school administrator for 16 years. At age 40 I changed careers and was a financial advisor for 25 years, retiring in 2008.  I am married and have two kids and two grandchildren. Since retirement we have stayed active, traveling, fishing, scuba diving and cooking. I volunteer both at a hospice and at a senior  center for memory loss and assisted living folks. This work has kept me humble and helped me stay grounded. My five closest friends were all in our class. My children can't believe us five guys have remained best friends all these years. I am so grateful and proud of all the things the class of '61 have shared together. As a former educator I know our class has a special bond, one few other people have experienced. See you August of 2011.

Note from your Website Administrator: David passed away July, 2019, and is listed in our “In Memoriam” section.  We are leaving the picture/profile he listed with us as a tribute to him.

Comment: Sorry to have missed the 50th reunion, but hope to get to the next one.  I'm now living in beautiful Lake Mills, Wi within easy reach of my five daughters and 10 grandchildren. I have worked a variety of occupations since college:elementary school teacher, church office administrator, and church organist ( which I still do).  The job I'm most dedicated to and love is being a mom and grandma. My girls range in age from 37 to 49 and the grandkids are growing up too soon (aged 10-18)  I like to tell them about the "dinasour days" when I went to WHS.   Aren't we glad we all went to high school in the "Happy Days" period!

Comment: Hello Former Classmates,

Wow, can you believe it's been 50 years?  I have had a very blessed life thus far.  I have three children:  Jim (Jean), Donna (Mark) and Pam (Keith).  I also have 6 wonderful step-children.  I have 20 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.   I have lived in Hartford, WI for the past 30 years.  I ran a school bus company with my husband for many years and even had the pleasure of driving some of my grandchildren to school and back.

My husband, Joseph Kelly and I were married almost 30 years.  We lived on Kelly hill for 25 of those years.  It was actually the house my husband grew up in.  After retiring from the school bus company, we were able to enjoy many trips that included: Door County, Ireland, Alaska and a few trips to Hawaii.  Up until three years ago, I was a Realtor for Coldwell Banker in West Bend for 15 years.  What a fun ride that was and I've made some life long friends along the way.

Sadly, the past year and half have been some of the toughest in my life.  I lost my best friend of 40 years to cancer in Nov. 2009 and I lost the love of my life, my dear husband Joseph, in June 2010.

For the past ten years, I have been devoting my life to Jesus.  I belong to Wellspring Community Church in Hartford and enjoy every day being a follower of HIM.  My life has forever been changed by his grace and sacrafice.  Don't know Jesus, just ask and I'd be happy to share the good news!

I look forward to reconecting with many of you in the upcoming weeks.

God Bless!

Sandra

50 years is a lot of time to put into a few words! Where shall I begin?

I married after college graduation from UW and lived in the Madison and Minneapolis areas before moving back to Waukesha County. I am now single again since 1992 and am retired from 3 careers: 25 years in elementary education, 9 years as a medical office manager/surgical assistant, & 6 years as an administrative assistant to several pastors. It is said that change makes us flexible!!

I am now enjoying the freedom of retirement and traveling to visit my family in MN, (2 wonderful sons & their wives & 4 grandchildren), as well as seeing & experiencing places on my "bucket list". I enjoyed last winter on the beach in Venice, FL and plan to go back this year. I feel very blessed to have good health and many good friends. I cherish my childhood memories of our farm family, little country school & wonderful years and friends at Waukesha High School.

Thanks to all of you who have helped with this 70th reunion. Hope to see many of you there!

Comment: will write more later---too busy attending protests and rallies--would like my grandson to have at least some of the opportunities we had---we were so lucky to have lived during an era when people recognized that it took money to have quality education--we even had a fieldhouse!!

Looking back 50 years is a bit intimidating, but a very quick summary is this:  I have been very lucky.  It started with finding the "right guy," choosing the career of teaching which has been fullfilling, enjoying the lives of two wonderful daughters, and now being part of the life of the cutest grandson you'd ever want to see.  Because Jerry and I have been very healthy, we have enjoyed more than our fair share of skiing, sailing, hiking, and traveling.  We have been blessed with great friends and caring family.   We currently reside on the shores of Grand Traverse Bay where we take in the panoramas of beautiul Lake Michigan sunsets on a daily basis.

Donna and I have two wonderful daughters---one is married, and the youngest will be married this September.  We have one grandsom who is two and 1/2 years old and is such a darling.  We enjoy the four seasons and like to snow ski, sail, and hike.
