College took me to St. Paul, MN and Macalester College where I majored in Spanish and minored in English and Education. Then I came back to Milwaukee to teach at Custer H.S. for a couple of years. My English minor was getting me more English classes than Spanish, so I transferred to Samuel Morse Middle School where I could teach more Spanish. While there, I met my husband, John, a science teacher, and we were married in 1969. We have three grown daughters of whom we are pretty proud. Kathryn, our 1st born is an at-home-mom these days since our one and only grandson, Emerson, was born three years ago. Her husband is in radio management. Our middle daughter is Suzanne. She is a doctor who teaches medical students and residents for the Medical College of WI at Froedtert Hospital. Her specialty is ObGyn. And our youngest is Joanna who lives in Hollywood, FL and us a marine biologist who is second in command for the State of Florida’s coral reef conservation department. I was so fortunate to be able to stay at home with our kids while they were little. I went back to teaching at Catholic Memorial in Waukesha when our youngest was 4 years old, and twenty years later I retired from there in 2005. John and I love traveling, art exhibitions, plays, concerts, antique shops, flea markets, friends, relatives and dinner out! I also love reading and beading jewelry. We are thoroughly enjoying retirement, but there is still plenty to do because we just sold our home of 38 years in Waukesha, and bought a ranch house in Franklin where everything I need is on one floor. I have had one knee replacement, and am soon to have the other one done, but still have back problems after that, so the lack of stairs is a real blessing for me. It will be such fun to see you all in August. It has been a long, long time!! |

After graduation, I married my high school sweetheart - Jim Weiss. I started a secretarial job at WHS working with Mr. Dyvad, Miss Compton, and occassionally Mr Duckett. A month after we married, Jim was called to active duty and stationed at Ft. Lewis, Washington. A couple months later, I quit my job to join him. We lived there about a year and our 1st son was born there. |

I attended Lawrence College (now University) in Appleton, WI, majoring in Classical Languages with a minor in French. I came back to Waukesha early in 1965 to teach French at South Campus. Then, in the space of one week, I graduated from Lawrence, finished teaching, and got married to Robert (Mac) West, whom I had met at Lawrence. We celebrated 51 years of marriage this past June. Mac and I have lived in various parts of the midwest and east as his career evolved. I taught high school for several years and then became a travel consultant for the next 30! We both love to travel and have managed to visit many fascinating parts of the world, and will continue to do so as long as we are able. Our son Chris and his family--lovely wife and two charming daughters--live in Denver, so we moved there four years ago to be closer to them. I have mostly retired from the travel business, but I have gotten very involved in tracing family histories and geneaolgy, which brings me back to Wisconsin regularly. |

Comment: Just like all of us, I can not believe 50 years have past. I am a widow since 2002. I have 3 sons, 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. I live in Muskego and am still working part-time as a waitress at the Rainbow Restaurant in Muskego. All my family live in the area and I feel very fortunate to have them close. I love to garden and I have a large vegetable and flower garden. I belong to the "Sweet Adelines". I still bowl once a week and I enjoy traveling. |
